Spanish technology company Amelia has launched Micropiling Mode, a new operating mode for Hincator, a micropile installation device. It provides real-time measurements that help crews adjust each pile to its design coordinates before concrete is poured, helping prevent rework and reduce delays and additional costs.
Micropiling Mode combines hardware and software adaptations to extend Hincator’s quality control capabilities to cast-in-place micropile installations, making it possible to inspect up to 350 piles in a single day. The capability is aimed at EPCs, IPPs, installers and QA/QC engineering firms.
The measurement process requires an operator to place Hincator on the pile head and its position is recorded in just five seconds (compared with the standard 15 seconds). The screen then shows, in real time, how the pile needs to be adjusted to reach its design position. It displays deviations along the X, Y and Z axes, as well as the pile’s rotation and its north–south and east–west inclination.
With these readings, the field technician guides the crew as they adjust the pile. The whole procedure — initial measurement, adjustment and final verification — can be completed in under one minute. Once the pile is in the correct position, the user can mark it again or repeat the measurement immediately after the concrete pour to check for any movement. Amelia’s platform records every inspection and automatically generates the quality report.
