Solar Power World printed its first edition in October 2011, just in time for that year’s Solar Power International in Dallas. It was a labor of love for all of us, and it’s been a marvelous (nearly) two years in this wonderful industry.
As we approach our 12th issue (and our second Intersolar issue — we can’t wait to get back to San Francisco in July), we thought you’d appreciate a look back at where we’ve been. We’re looking forward to continuing to serve everyone in this industry for years to come.
1. October 2011: Managing Risk With Model-Based Simulations
Our inaugural issue featured a cover story by then associate (now managing) editor Kathie Zipp on how to manage risk effectively when putting together a solar project. We included a story outlining the history of the PV effect and how SolarWorld produces its panels in a manufacturing plant in Hillsboro, Ore. (pre-Chinese panel complaint).
This issue, and this issue alone, earned Solar Power World its designation as one of the “best new trade publications” in the country from the prestigious American Society for Business Publication Editors (ASBPE).
