Nextracker ships 50 GW of single-axis solar tracker technology globally

Solar tracker developer Nextracker surpassed 50 GW in global shipments, a total equivalent to the peak electricity demands of California. The company’s shipped solar tracker equipment to 40 countries across six continents since 2014.

Nextracker

“Nextracker has been a trusted partner of Mortenson’s solar business for many years. They are an organization that is easy to do business with and their tracker solutions are proven and reliable. Nextracker is pioneering the future of sustainable energy solutions and we congratulate them for achieving such a monumental milestone,” said Eric Grenz, VP and general manager of Mortenson.

Nextracker offers its NX Horizon solar tracker, which is compatible with bifacial modules and is paired with the company’s proprietary TrueCapture smart control software. TrueCapture helps single-axis solar arrays compensate for cloud cover, inter-row shading and is programmed to optimize energy yield for split-cell PV modules.

“We are attracted to Nextracker’s unique design which brings competitive edges in constructability and energy capture,” said Brian Gorda, VP of engineering and pre-construction at Terra-Gen. “Their technology advancements enable us to develop more complicated project sites with the same high performance that were previously unworkable.”

TrueCapture has been deployed in 20 GW projects equaling 150 solar plants, over a third of the company’s output. The software also has an independent row architecture to help with solar panel cleaning and vegetation management.

“Our executive leadership team draws from decades of experience as solar developers, builders and operators of solar power plants,” said Dan Shugar, Nextracker CEO and founder. “That enables us to understand that plants need to produce maximum energy, have very efficient construction metrics and lower maintenance costs. We then incorporate customer feedback to deliver value across that spectrum.”
