AEP Energy and Doral, a developer of renewable energy projects, primarily in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions, announced they have signed a long-term renewable energy purchase agreement for the Mammoth Solar project in Indiana.
Mammoth Solar 1, a 480-MWDC solar energy project, is the first phase of the 1.65-GWDC Mammoth project being developed by Doral. The Mammoth solar project covers more than 12,000 acres in Starke and Pulaski counties in Northern Indiana.
Mammoth Solar 1 is expected to begin construction during the fourth quarter of 2021 and reach commercial operation by the second quarter of 2023.
“AEP Energy is focused on providing customers with integrated, carbon-free energy supplies that deliver long-term price stability while benefitting the environment and surrounding communities. Agreements like the one with Doral LLC demonstrate how our innovative energy solutions can support the development of new renewable clean energy resources, boost local economies and help our customers power their homes and businesses with clean, reliable energy,” said Greg Hall, president of AEP Energy.

Thank you for this information.Agri-PV-projects like this are very very important for all countries. The double use of agricultural land in this way should be a worlwide standard.Especial in developing countries with high additional energy demand is this an exiting technology. In all countries with higher solar radiation like in Africa or middle America or India this double using system for electriciy is the cheapest way to provide local energy demand for rural business and local food production.A wordlwide program like marschall plan should be installed for this.

Agri-PV-Bürgerenergieprojekt Weiz
Austria
Our project is just befor beginning. We are waiting for the EAG .This is the Austrian regulation for 100% renewable electricity to 2030.The law should go inforce in the next weeks. Our project is organised by cooperation between 6 communities. The city Weiz and the five rural communities around the city. The city has not enough suitable roofs and industrial areas for reaching the PV electricity production in the city.In the five rural communities around the city are surplus areas to privide the city with enough electricity. The second main point in our project is the construction of the company. Each person, household, company or other organisation with a connectio to the local grid can be a member of our company. So the company is leaded by the local people and communities. This could be a model for hundreds and thousands cities and their sorruonding communities. The system needs the existing local grid without additional grid investment. In future additional local community batterie storage systems in MW power and multi MWh storage capacity are planed.
