BlueWave Solar is launching a community partnership program in response to COVID-19, providing financial support to local organizations in the areas they serve across Massachusetts, Maine and New York.
The company is a community solar installer, providing subscriptions to solar projects so residents can save on their annual electric bill while supporting the generation of clean, locally produced energy.
The newly-launched support program will combine community solar subscriptions with donations to area non-profit organizations to support their COVID-19 response efforts. In this model, BlueWave is working with the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley in Poughkeepsie, New York to direct donations on behalf of Central Hudson Gas & Electric customers who sign up for community solar.
For each customer who signs up, BlueWave will donate $150 to the food bank in their name. New subscribers are also eligible for a $150 sign-up bonus they can keep or choose to donate to the food bank to support their neighbors. In addition, BlueWave will be making corporate donations to each of these organizations, regardless of the number of customer sign-ups.
The proceeds will go directly to the food bank to support those in need and struggling with access to necessary food and supplies. BlueWave is launching a similar partnership in Massachusetts for the Easthampton Community Center and Eversource West customers later this month.
“While we all stay home to protect our neighbors and use more electricity as a result, community solar subscriptions are a simple way to help families and local businesses save on their utility bills,” said Trevor Hardy, CEO, BlueWave Solar. “We also feel compelled to extend our support during these uncertain times to the local communities where our employees live and work and our customers reside, and we hope these donations help bring some needed relief.”
BlueWave Solar will be making corporate donations to each of the following organizations that are central to the local COVID-19 response in their respective areas:
- Easthampton Community Center (Massachusetts)
- Boston Healthcare for the Homeless (Massachusetts)
- Good Shepard Food Bank (Maine)
- Hudson Valley Food Bank (New York)
