Solar Energy International expanding online solar training during pandemic

By Kelsey Misbrener | March 20, 2020

Solar training organization Solar Energy International is postponing all in-person training that was scheduled for March through May, but will have an expanded focus and training options through the SEI Online Campus during that time.

“We wanted to reach out to all of our students, alumni, employers and supporters to let you know SEI is open for business and that we are pushing forward with our mission,” said Chris Turek, director of marketing and communications for SEI. “SEI is here to serve the world and provide the resources you need to achieve your renewable energy education goals.”

The SEI Global Solar Connection Initiative

To combat the growing sense of isolation and disconnection, SEI is launching the SEI Global Solar Connection Initiative. The purpose of this initiative is to create a global sense of connection and community around renewable energy education in the midst of social distancing and self-quarantining efforts in the battle against this COVID-19 virus.

In recent days, multiple solar professionals and employers in the solar industry have reached out to SEI to ask about what kinds of additional online and virtual training opportunities it could offer to help keep driving the industry forward. With so many people now working from home and unable to perform their job functions on job sites or in offices all over the world, there is a silver lining to these challenges. SEI is expanding its contribution to the global solar community through more online educational opportunities to meet the professional development needs of the industry and keep the community connected.

It is important to note that SEI already offers the largest online learning community in the world dedicated to renewable energy education through the SEI Online Campus! As of today, SEI has over 75,000 people enrolled in the SEI Online Campus and is prepared to grow its global impact exponentially in the coming months.

Discounts and new opportunities

As part of the SEI Global Solar Connection Initiative and through its nonprofit efforts, SEI is offering multiple opportunities to get connected and keep your solar energy education going:

  • $100 off any SEI Online Campus course April session of 40 contact hours or more

  • $99 for SEI’s Solar Safety Training Package (recognized by NABCEP for the equivalency of OSHA training requirements for NABCEP certification)

  • FREE RE100: Introduction to Renewable Energy Online Course

  • On-demand Continuing Education Series Online Courses

  • NEW SEI Solar Conversations: Live Webinar Series

SEI invites you to get connected with these virtual training opportunities to continue your  professional development efforts; or if you are new to the solar industry, give the SEI Student Services Team a call to discuss your training and career goals.
