SolarWorld Americas announced the SolarWorld Assurance Warranty Protection Program, featuring supplemental protection plans for residential and small commercial customers.
SolarWorld Americas’ standard coverage includes a 20-year product warranty and a 25-year performance guarantee for most solar panels. In addition to SolarWorld Americas’ product warranty and performance guarantee, the SolarWorld Assurance program provides supplemental, third-party-backed warranties to the system owner with no deductibles. The Dual Warranty protection plan is for solar panels installed this year, and SolarWorld covers the premium. The Extend Warranty plan covers solar panels installed from 2012 through 2016.
The SolarWorld Assurance Warranty Protection Program is backed by an A.M. Best “A”-rated company and covers systems from 3 to 20 kW. The warranties immediately go into effect in the event that the original factory coverage could no longer be supported; they also are transferable to new system owners. Unlike typical warranty insurance advertised by other solar panel manufacturers, the SolarWorld Assurance protection plans are true warranties, not insurance policies.
“SolarWorld has been innovating product offerings for more than 40 years,” said Shane Messer, the company’s vice president of sales and marketing. “The SolarWorld Assurance Program is another first. By offering this program, we’re providing true, secondary warranties to our customers, with no deductibles, to assure peace of mind.”

Any updates on this? Did these guys really hose the rest of the industry by filing their stupid trade case and then hose their own customers by going belly up without providing a way for their customers to process warranty claims? If so their name is Mud as far as I’m concerned!

So, has Solar World officially gone bankrupt, leaving all of us who paid extra to buy US made panels high and dry?
I’ll appreciate an update,
Thanks,

SunPower purchased SolarWorld a few years ago.

All the links are dead from this article. Did solar world remove the warranty?

Their website seems to have changed. Try this: http://www.solarworld-usa.com/products/sunmodule-solar-panels/assurance-warranty-protection-program

Hi Kelly
I have solar world panels and no one seems to know how I can access warranty now that they are bankrupt. The links provided on several solar world pages on the internet no longer exist, and their phone numbers are down. Can a company just drop costumers like this without any legal ramifications ? Hoping you can help. Thanks

I’m in the same boat. I called the company Sun Power that bought Solar World and nobody answering their phones has heard of the purchase. My property is not listed under their warrenty. The installed must have known that they were going out of business as SunWalk also went out of business. We bought 2 months before they officially filed bankruptcy so I’m sure the industry and sunwalk knew and probably got discounted panels sold to me at full price.

Ever get anywhere with this? I’m now in the same boat
