As of January 29, 2013, the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) is continuing to process microFIT applications for solar PV projects until the 50 MW procurement target is achieved. The current price schedule remains in effect. Applicants are reminded that their contract price will be the price in effect when their application approval notice is issued.
“The Return-on-Investment for a microFIT solar installation is still up to 14% given the reduced cost of materials and with the OPA’s current rates still in effect” encourages Peter Mueller, Vice President of Sales with EthoSolar Inc. “In our experience with the microFIT program, once an application has been submitted, it typically takes around two weeks before we know if a contract will be awarded. It is our understanding that only 14 MW of the microFIT’s program procurement target remains, therefore, we stress the urgency to apply now by calling EthoSolar at 1-855-207-5500.”
Given the microFIT program’s popularity, ease of application process, and virtually no up-front application cost – the OPA continues to receive a high number of applications. Should anyone be interested in pursuing a microFIT contract for a roof or ground-mount solar installation, it is critical to not delay in submitting your application. The EthoSolar team is here to help facilitate the microFIT application process or simply answer any of your questions around solar PV installations.
