The first heterojunction technology (HJT) solar panels have rolled off the production line at SEG Solar’s Tomball manufacturing site in Houston. The company opened the 4-GW facility last month.
The Tomball site was designed for end-to-end digital management of manufacturing operations from order release and material flow to production execution. AI-enabled inspection and advanced production scheduling tools are integrated throughout the facility to support product quality, traceability and operational efficiency. SEG will deliver HJT modules for the U.S. market.
“Facing the new policy challenges, SEG has doubled down on American manufacturing,” said Jim Wood, SEG Solar CEO. “With Tomball 1 online and our domestic supply chain fully traceable, we are accelerating toward our goal of becoming America’s largest crystalline silicon module manufacturer.”
The company has already begun construction of an additional U.S. HJT module manufacturing facility with 4.6 GW of annual capacity (Tomball 2), which is expected to begin operations in 2027. Once completed, SEG’s total U.S. module manufacturing capacity will exceed 10.6 GW. SEG is also advancing a domestic solar campus with U.S. cell production targeted for 2028.
