OMCO Solar shipped 1 GW of its factory-direct products over the past year that were installed in 30 states, bringing clean solar energy to farms, schools, factories, municipalities and utilities. With 8 GW of prior contract manufacturing solar products, OMCO Solar now has delivered over 9 GW to the market.

OMCO Solar is a manufacturer of solar racking and tracker solutions for community, commercial, industrial and utility-scale projects, and its experience stems from decades of steel manufacturing, beginning in 1955 when OMCO Holdings was founded. OMCO Solar introduced its first proprietary mounting product, the Field-Fast fixed-tilt racking system in 2017, followed by the launch of its Choice direct-bolt mounting system and OMCO ORIGIN factory-direct, single-axis tracker system in 2019.

OMCO Solar has increased its yearly manufacturing capacity to more than 3 GW with a nationwide footprint and products are directly shipped from four U.S. locations.

“With more than 12 years as a contract manufacturer of racking, and our long history of steel manufacturing, we knew we had the expertise, capacity and scalability to enter the direct-sell market, offering our own products,” Gary Schuster, president and CEO of OMCO Holdings said. “Today, we are proud to offer our OMCO Solar products, which are primarily manufactured in our four factories, right here in the U.S.A. With our U.S. manufacturing footprint and highly skilled workforce, we can provide the highest quality products and the shortest lead times in the industry. Even with the challenges of 2020, we were pleased to see our footprint grow, and are thankful to our partners for their role in helping us keep the momentum going.”

In Florida, OMCO Solar is working with Moss Solar to complete six utility-scale projects totaling more than 600 MW. Once completed, this will be the largest fixed-tilt portfolio in the company’s history, and one of the largest in the U.S.

“Our experience working with OMCO Solar and installing its solutions gives us confidence that we’ll continue to benefit from a strong relationship as these projects are commissioned and energized,” said Edwin Perkins, president of Moss Solar. “OMCO Solar products are easy to assemble and install, and are backed by a strong customer support team.”

Following its 2020 growth, OMCO Solar continues to invest in its engineering team. The company’s integrated team — which includes product development, sales, engineering, manufacturing, logistics and field services — tries to offer a one-stop shop for its product solutions.

“As demand for solar energy increases, OMCO Solar’s growth indicates it will remain a strong player in the PV tracker market,” said Sagar Chopra, research analyst, power and renewables at Wood Mackenzie.

One can find any number of automated manufacturing robots, where the actual value is added is in the up front design and after sales product support. This one thing can make or break a business. We have witnessed many solar PV companies come and go over the last 10 years. Covid-19 has forced the remaining solar PV companies to work smarter, not harder in all aspects of the business. Now it is possible for a company employee to survey the site, make recommendations and even generate a parts list for the proposed project before anyone sets foot on the actual site.
