GRID Alternatives is the nation’s largest nonprofit solar installer. GRID was founded in 2004 by Erica Mackie and Tim Sears, who developed a model to make solar PV technology accessible for income-qualified communities, while providing pathways to clean energy jobs. Today, GRID serves families throughout California, Colorado, the Mid-Atlantic region, and tribal communities nationwide. Our Energy For All Program offers single-family, multifamily and community solar installation services. We offer multiple levels of workforce development, including volunteerism, solar training, and our SolarCorps fellowship. GRID’s international program partners with communities in Nicaragua, Nepal and Mexico to address their energy access issues.
