SolarEdge batteries now qualify for Pacific Power’s Wattsmart Battery Program

By Kelsey Misbrener | June 18, 2025

SolarEdge Technologies announced it has become a qualifying battery manufacturer for Pacific Power’s Wattsmart Battery Program. The new program offers incentives to homeowners and commercial building owners in Washington and Oregon to adopt solar batteries. Participants are now able to earn financial incentives by allowing the utility to use stored battery energy to support grid stability and reduce peak energy demand.

Under the program terms, homeowners who install SolarEdge’s DC-coupled batteries can earn $600 per kilowatt — up to $3,000 per battery — significantly offsetting the upfront cost upon enrollment. Nonresidential customers can earn up to $600 per kilowatt, up to 30 kW.

The Pacific Power Wattsmart Battery Program builds on the success of similar initiatives in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming where thousands of SolarEdge’s batteries participate in Pacific Power’s local program, helping to support broader clean energy resilience across the U.S.

The program delivers four key benefits: real-time frequency regulation to balance the grid, peak load management to ease strain during high-demand hours, circuit congestion relief through aggregated battery support, while on their own, the batteries provide backup power to keep homes running during outages.

“The Wattsmart Battery Program is a win-win for both homeowners and the grid,” said Marty Rogers, general manager of SolarEdge North America. “Participants can earn up to $3,000 per battery while taking advantage of our DC-coupled architecture, which avoids triple energy conversions to deliver higher efficiency and more usable solar energy. It’s a smarter, cleaner and more cost-effective way to maximize backup power and savings.”
