Chemitek releases anti-soiling solar panel coating guaranteed to stay on for full year

Chemitek’s new solution is designed for application with robot or brush-on tractor.

Chemitek Solar has introduced Antistatic Solar Armor 2.0, the new version of its easy to apply antistatic soiling mitigation coating for photovoltaic (PV) panels.

The upgraded formula of Antistatic Solar Armor 2.0 now guarantees at least one-year durability under normal soiling conditions, ensuring that solar panels stay cleaner for longer and reducing the need for frequent reapplication. This formula significantly reduces the adhesion of contaminants such as dust, pollen and organic matter, making future cleanings faster and more efficient. By creating a durable, protective layer that minimizes dirt accumulation, it effectively supports the long-term performance and maintenance of PV panels.

The combined antistatic and anti-adherent properties result in gains of up to 5% in energy production by slowing down the soiling buildup. Designed for application with robot (e.g., Solarcleano or Sun-X) and brush-on tractor (e.g., Sunbrush), it is applied during normal cleaning operations by mixing it directly in the cleaning water. This easy integration on regular cleanings avoids additional operations and costs.

With sustainability in mind, the Antistatic Solar Armor 2.0 is biodegradable, non-toxic, water-based and free of harsh chemicals like solvents and ammonia. Its pH-neutral composition ensures it is gentle on both the environment and the solar panel components.

Antistatic Solar Armor 2.0 is TÜV-certified for safety and reliability, ensuring it meets the highest industry standards. It offers optimal protection for sensitive photovoltaic components, including the anti-reflective coating (ARC).

“We developed the new Antistatic Solar Armor 2.0, with the goal of at least one year of lifetime to align with the yearly cleaning cycle of the majority of the PV plants worldwide. This new version will keep the modules protected for the full time between cleanings, thus minimizing soiling losses year-round,” said César Martins, CEO of Chemitek.

Antistatic Solar Armor 2.0 will be officially launched at Intersolar Europe 2025.

Sounds great! I haven’t had my panels cleaned since they were installed so I would like to find someone who can clean them and apply this coating.
