Bodhi releases new AI Assistant for solar customer service

By Kelsey Misbrener | April 9, 2025

Solar software provider Bodhi has announced the launch of Bodhi AI Assistant — a 24/7 virtual support agent that blends empathy with deep solar expertise to deliver scalable, round-the-clock customer service. Trained on thousands of real customer conversations and integrated with documentation from across the solar industry, the AI Assistant provides immediate level-1 customer support and allows solar companies to serve more customers without adding headcount.

Customer support remains one of the most challenging aspects of solar operations. Many new solar owners are unfamiliar with how their systems work, often requiring support for routine questions that can escalate quickly. A 2023 NREL study found that 40% of new solar customers struggle to interpret their monitoring data while a 2022 survey of EPCs showed that only 12% of solar businesses have a dedicated post-install support budget. With over five million systems already in service — and another million expected soon—solar companies need scalable, responsive solutions.

“We built the Bodhi AI Assistant to address a critical industry need,” said Scott Nguyen, CEO of Bodhi. “By harnessing tens of thousands of real customer conversations and incorporating the knowledge bases of leading inverter manufacturers like Enphase, SolarEdge, SMA and APSystems, we’re enabling solar companies to deliver empathetic, accurate answers — day or night — without overburdening their teams.”

The Bodhi AI Assistant responds to common questions like:

  • “What’s the status of my project?”
  • “Is my system still producing power?”
  • “I received an error about my system. What do I do now?”

“This tool does exactly what I do when I’m on the phone with customers — it really relates to the customers and makes them feel validated,” said Sam Murphy, Service Manager at Six Rivers Solar. “We see people who’ve invested a lot of money in their systems become instantly anxious when anything seems off. This provides simple, direct responses that put them at ease.”

The Bodhi AI Assistant can be customized to align with each solar company’s customer service protocols and best practices, enabling teams to provide consistently high-quality support even during busy seasons.
