Washington, D.C.

After President Donald Trump announced then quickly paused tariffs against Mexico and Canada in early February, the 30-day agreement is set to lapse on March 4. Trump plans to add an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods on that date too, after a bump of 10% went into effect on February 3.

A new bill introduced by Illinois Democrats would establish a target for Illinois to build 15 GW of clean energy storage  — and remove barriers keeping newly built clean energy infrastructure from connecting to the grid. The bill would also create a virtual power plant program for system owners.

California legislators introduce new community solar bill to fix problems of the last
Sacramento, California

California legislators introduced a new community solar bill designed to strengthen and expand the initial framework for the state’s community solar + storage program established by AB 2316. Bill supporters say the CPUC’s most recent program design fell short of the legislature’s intent, leaving only a handful of projects viable under current rules.
