Affordable Wire Management releases new solar cable hangers and lock-out solutions

Affordable Wire Management (AWM) recently announced the launch of its next-generation wire management products for utility-scale solar projects. Both the newly released Arden Cable Hangers and the Solar LOTO solutions are designed to excel in both economics and longevity, achieve optimal ROI and further accelerate the adoption of solar energy.

“Cable management should be top-of-mind, as utility scale solar projects are now expected to last more than 40 years in financial models, and EPCs are under pressure to deliver projects on time and within budget. Our ability to innovate and meet these demands stems from the strength of our technically-minded, industry-experienced team,” said Scott Rand, co-founder and CEO of AWM. “We all have extensive backgrounds in utility-scale BOS technologies — so we understand products need to be reliable, fast to install and scalable. Wire management is everywhere on a site and always a concern for EPCs. That’s why we’ve chosen to focus on this space, developing solutions that last for the entire lifecycle of the asset and accelerate the adoption of solar energy.”

Taking advantage of the latest manufacturing and design techniques, AWM is excited to release the new, revamped version of its flagship products — the 4th generation of the company’s premier Hanger solution. Newly introduced as the Arden Series of Solar Cable Hangers, it offers customers an elegant design, precise engineering and the same unmatched value.

The new series is durable yet cost-effective, functions better without adding complexity, is quick to install and rugged yet gentle on cable. The messenger hangers feature a three-dimensional design that ensure safe and optimal wire placement that provides derating benefits to the cable it holds. Every hanger along with all other components of the AWM system is made of durable alloys and is free of polymeric material. The products can withstand all weather conditions: temperatures from -40°C to +150°C, extreme ice and snow loads and worst-case corrosive environments. All hangers have a working load of at least 80 lbs, with each ‘branch’ rated for 20 lbs. The hangers have a life expectancy exceeding 40 years.

AWM is also releasing Solar LOTO — a new safety lock-out that answers customer requests for a more robust solution to minimize electric shock risk, while energizing or maintaining solar connectors. AWM has designed an OSHA-compliant plastic clam shell and newly released locking dust cap to shut off the entire connector, regardless of the manufacturer, ensuring safety while protecting against dust and other environmental contaminants.

“We’re seeing utility-scale solar projects using more sophisticated DC designs, which increases risk of electrocution during connector energization,“ Rand said. “Party balloons, plastic bags or bubble wrap do not provide adequate protection. Unfortunately, we know of safety incidents that have occurred during commissioning, so we’re glad to provide a simple, cost-effective way to prevent life-threatening injuries.”
