The second annual installer competition will take place at Intersolar North America and Energy Storage North America 2022 on January 13 and 14.

By Hannah Schnyder, Event Coordinator, Solar Games

This January, Intersolar North America and Energy Storage North America are coming together in Long Beach — which means the Solar Games is back in action! Taking place live in the Solar Games Stadium inside the #isnaesna22 expo hall, the thrilling two-day bracket-style tournament is free to all event attendees.

Seven install teams from across the U.S. will go head-to-head building grid-tied and off-grid residential solar + storage systems. Installer teams will be objectively and rigorously judged on safety, technical accuracy and speed.

In addition to bragging rights, the winning team will take home a cash prize of $10,000 — the largest in Solar Games history! The second and third place teams will receive prizes of $3,500 and $2,500, respectively.

Meet the teams

Representing regions from across the U.S., we’re thrilled to introduce the 2022 Solar Games teams!

  • Sol-Up: Las Vegas, NV (Returning Champions!)
  • LuminaSun Smart Home, LLC: Mooresville, NC
  • Greenspark Solar: Ontario, NY
  • Synergy Power: Livermore, CA
  • SunCommon: Waterbury, VT
  • Solar Works Energy: Albuquerque, NM
  • Aloha Solar Power: Encinitas, CA

Competition schedule details

There will be six matchups throughout the tournament, each lasting 75-90 minutes. Day 1 kicks off Thursday, January 13, with grid-tied installation competitions taking place at 10:30 a.m., 1:15 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.. Thursday’s winners will move on to the semi-finals.

On Friday, January 14, remaining teams will battle to complete an off-grid installation, with matchups taking place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Winners will proceed to the 4:00 p.m. championship round, which will be a grid-tied competition. With $10,000 at stake, the final round is not one to miss!
