Hannah Solar Government Services has been selected to design and construct a 490-kW roof-mounted solar system for Z-Man Fishing Products in Ladson, South Carolina.
Z-Man Fishing Products is a South Carolina-based fishing lure brand that supplies products to fishing advocates around the world. Z-Man is one of the fastest-growing lure brands in the United States, sold nationwide in stores such as Bass Pro Shops, Walmart and Dick’s Sporting Goods. The facility in Ladson is responsible for all of Z-Man’s manufacturing.
The solar PV project will allow Z-Man to produce around 71% of its facility’s electricity using their solar energy system.
“We are excited to start work on this energy savings project with Z-Man Fishing Products. Z-Man is a local business that is setting a great example of how businesses in South Carolina can advance their operations through renewable energy,” said Col (RET.) Dave McNeil, president and CEO of HSGS.

If the EPC hasn’t taken into account energy storage for this project, they might want to take a run at that also. Saving 71% on electricity is substantial and yet some early adopters in the C&I entities have found out even though a solar PV system supplies 30% of their electricity needs, with onerous utility TOU or demand charges can increase an operations electric bill and represent 50% of a monthly electric bill. Having enough energy storage to curtail high energy use and ride through these demand charge periods will allow more savings on the electric bill each month than just straight solar PV in and any credits one might get for overgeneration.
