For the 10th anniversary of the Top Solar Contractors list, we’re sharing Q&A’s with the people who make the industry run every day. Read more interviews here.

How’d you get started in solar?

E Light got into solar in 2008 when we did the 1.75-MW Belmar project. Soon after, the company made a decision as an organization to pursue solar. We have been working on solar projects ever since.

What’s your favorite part about being in the solar industry?

I enjoy how specialized it is. I also like how fast and challenging it is as well as how it is evolving.

What has surprised you the most about the solar industry in the last 10 years?

I am most surprised that we aren’t doing more of it. I thought the industry would be moving faster and thought certain organizations would be faster to adopt solar.

What are your solar predictions for the next 10 years?

I feel there is going to continue to be more direct grid and business solar for manufacturing, like commercial companies and high energy consumers. I think we will see more microgrid battery storage and continued technological innovation.

How does the Top Solar Contractors list help your company?

It provides us with insight into who is doing what in the industry and helps us generate leads. It also helps us gain a broader view of the market in general with products. I feel that is helps us the most with our platform to showcase our experience and capabilities in the industry.

Do you have any special memories around the list or the Gala over the last 10 years?

In 2015, E Light was awarded the Top Electrical Subcontractor and we were proud to accept our award at the Gala. That was such a fun time and memory. Anytime we are can grab No. 1 in our home state it’s special to us as well. We received #1 Top Colorado Contractor in 2020, 2018 and 2017.
