Evergy will develop a 1.44-MW solar system for utility Paragould Light Water & Cable to serve the Paragould, Arkansas community. Evergy was selected through an RFP process that was conducted by GDS Associates.
“Paragould’s strong leadership shows their investment to continued growth in renewable energy and commitment to our partnership,” said Lloyd Jackson, managing director, Evergy Energy Partners. “Our Evergy team is proud to partner with Paragould as they expand their energy sources that will continue to serve the community.”
Evergy has a strong commitment to renewable energy for a sustainable future. Currently, Evergy meets more than a third of the electricity needs of the homes and businesses it serves with renewable energy and about 50 percent with carbon-free energy.
“Our solar project can make Paragould more competitive as we attract companies that want renewable energy,” said Darrell Phillips, Paragould Light Water and Cable CEO. “The energy produced from this solar project will be our community’s most affordable peaking energy resource.”
Evergy Energy Partners has leveraged its experience as an electric utility to develop flexible power supply strategies, creating substantial long-term power cost benefits to utility, municipality, cooperative and industrial clients.

This may seem odd, but I just saw this on my FB feed. I am a solar enthusiast; I retired my solar thermal business during the 2008 recession. I was in a rural area, and couldn’t stay afloat during the recession, and fracking cut the cost of natural gas, resulting in the undeserved death of my industry, just as we were making inroads against wasteful energy usage. So … I am glad to see that solar PV is growing, and wish the industry the best.
The thing that made me post, though, is that my Dad used to play baseball in the St Louis farm league in Paragould in the early 40’s. He was first baseman “Red” Congour. He passed away two days ago at age 99 in Snow Hill Md. Too much of a coincidence for me to pass by. Best of luck with this solar venture; perhaps my Dad is contributing after all…

Is this going to be in conjunction with plwc to lower cost of electric or trying to get residents to sign up for the new solar electric
