Industry tradeshow Solar Power International, part of North America Smart Energy Week, will move to Las Vegas this October on account of COVID-19. The show, originally planned for mid-September in Anaheim, will now be held Oct. 21-22 in a virtual and outdoor format outside the Las Vegas Convention Center, according to information on the event website.
Fewer exhibitors will be on-site, with limits on the number of booth personnel present. The SPI website also states that companies will be encouraged to add Plexiglas shields for social distancing and provide access to digital collateral instead of giveaways or brochures.
All attendees, exhibitors and staff will be required to wear face coverings, and masks will be provided for those needing protection. Hand sanitizer and gloves will also be available to all attendees.
Registration will be mobile, while printed badges are still required, to cut down on queues of attendees.
Online content will be run alongside the physical event to reduce contact and ensure distance. The two-day exhibition will be in the Bronze Lot of the convention center, located on the south side of the convention center near the Renaissance hotel.
“We’re excited to bring this new format to Las Vegas and leverage the open space and open sky for a unique industry event,” said Stephen Miner, CEO & President, Solar Energy Trade Shows. “This could be the only opportunity for the entire renewable energy industry to collaborate and grow business in 2020. Our main priority is the health and safety of everyone involved and this re-imagining of our show provides a much safer environment than being indoors.”
Registration for the new format will be available beginning June 22.
