In collaboration with solar developer X-Elio and U.S. Bank, Best Buy has announced the completion of the Best Buy Solar Field in Martin, South Carolina. The 103-MW system will produce enough energy to power 260 Best Buy stores annually.
“We are proud of this investment in our community, which brings so many environmental and social benefits,” said Tim Dunn, head of environmental sustainability at Best Buy. “We have made great strides in reducing our carbon emissions, and this project is a big step toward achieving our future goals.”
X-Elio acquired the project in 2018 from NARENCO.
The solar field will contribute 6% toward the electronics store’s 75% carbon reduction goal. The project was first announced in Best Buy’s latest environmental, social and governance (ESG) report, “Doing a World of Good.”
