The California Solar and Storage Association (CALSSA) is issuing a public call to solar and storage companies around the world, and across the construction industry for donations of stockpiled N95 masks to protect California healthcare workers in the fight against COVID-19.
“Hospitals in and around California are facing a critical need for supplies like filtering facepiece respirators (or “N-95 masks”) and other personal protective equipment (PPE),” said Bernadette Del Chiaro, executive director for CALSSA. “This need is expected to exponentially increase in the coming days which is why we are asking all of our industry partners to donate as much as you can immediately.”
The show of solidarity for medical professionals and frontline responders has already produced more than 5,000 N95 mask donations from solar and storage industry leaders like Citadel, CPS America, Engie Storage, LG Chem, Luminalt, Tesla and Utility API.
Volunteers are currently organizing state-wide and national donation drives to collect donated items. Small donations are being coordinated directly through CALSSA whereas larger donations are being disbursed at the direction of the state Office of Emergency Services. Organizers are urging everyone to help out; no donation is too small at this time.
As the need for masks, ventilators, and other critical equipment only grows in under-resourced hospitals around the state, more solar and storage industry leaders are encouraged to donate in any capacity they can.
Donation arrangements can be made by contacting CALSSA at (916) 228-4567 or info@calssa.org.
