After successfully introducing its 60-cell Alpha Series module to the market last year, REC Group has begun production on its 72-cell Alpha Series solar panel. Both panel types use heterojunction technology to produce the most powerful wattage rating in their classes. The REC Alpha 72 Series will reach 450 W with a 21.3% efficiency.
“Our goal is to empower consumers with the best solar technology. And we know that only with big leaps, energy transitions across the globe can thrive,” said REC Group’s CEO Steve O’Neil. “The REC Alpha 72 Series is a crucial tool for businesses and communities to do exactly this and gain energy autonomy.”
Weighing only 23.6 kg (52 lb), REC’s 72-cell Alpha module enables easy handling and quicker installation times. The Alpha 72 Series also offers one of the thinnest frames in the market (30-mm), providing convenient transportation with more panels per pallet and container, which reduces transportation costs and is ultimately more environmentally-friendly.
The Alpha 72 is also eligible for REC’s ProTrust warranty which includes labor warranty and is available to REC Certified Solar Professionals.
REC brought its 60-cell Alpha Series module to the U.S. market in September 2019. No timetable has been announced as to when the 72-cell version will enter North America.
