TMEIC introduces solar-plus-storage inverter at SPI

TMEIC Corporation introduced the Solar Ware Ninja solar-plus-storage inverter system at Solar Power International . The advanced PV inverter, which was first released in January 2019, offers customers a revolutionary mechanism for gathering and storing photovoltaic energy achieving a new world standard for highest level of conversion efficiency at 99.1%.

“SPI is the ideal platform to showcase the advantages of the Solar Ware Ninja to the industry in North America and around the world,” said Donn Samsa, general manager, Energy & Infrastructure Solutions. “Demand for higher efficiency PV inverters and energy storage systems is increasing rapidly and the Ninja is setting a new bar for conversion efficiency — it is a game changer for the renewable energy market and incredibly exciting to showcase the capabilities of this product to attendees this week.”

The Solar Ware Ninja’s modular design features built in application flexibility resulting in significant advantages to not only power savings, but also to cost and maintenance savings. The versatility of the stackable advanced PV inverter allows for multiple Power Conversion System (PCS) blocks to be configured into numerous solutions including PV only, stand-alone energy storage, or as a PV+ESS independent solution. Multiple power rating selections allow for customization for large commercial and any size utility scale projects. As each module operates independently, the remaining units will continue to operate, thus minimizing power loss should one of the skid mounted units fail and require repair or replacement.

Key features and benefits include:

  • Operational flexibility, allowing for direct PV connection to each unit with no recombiner
  • Optimization for multiple solutions with a small footprint and high-power density
  • Reliability against widespread unit failure minimizing negative impacts from single unit downtime for maintenance
  • Low maintenance without the need for filters or high skill level electrician
  • NEMA 3R operating environment

Manufactured in Japan since early this year, production for the system is also underway in North America at the TMEIC Power Electronics factory in Katy, Texas, and at the TMEIC PV inverter factory in India.
