Sunrun announced its home solar and Brightbox battery service will come to Home Depot stores in 15 states. The specific states were not listed, but Sunrun works in 23 states and territories, including California and Texas. Sunrun expects to increase its presence in Home Depot stores over the coming months.
National installer Vivint Solar also announced an eight-state sales agreement with Home Depot this week. Possible overlap states with Sunrun Home Depot representation include Florida, Maryland, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Utah.
“Americans are united in their desire for clean, renewable energy. Through this expansion, Sunrun and The Home Depot are making it easier for households to go solar today. Sunrun’s solar service and Brightbox give people the freedom to create their own energy, contribute to healthier communities, and support a safer, more resilient energy system for everyone,” said Lynn Jurich, co-founder and CEO of Sunrun.
Sunrun representatives will be available in Home Depot locations to answer questions about solar and help Home Depot customers set up a home or phone consultation with a Sunrun sales professional. Customers may also access information about Sunrun’s solar-as-a-service and Brightbox home battery offerings or set up a consultation through www.homedepot.com.
Tesla (and SolarCity before it) had kiosks in almost 800 Home Depot stores before ending the relationship last summer. Now Tesla’s main residential installation competitors are filling in the gaps.

Sunrun exhibits everything wrong in this market. They are acting like an unethical bank. Buyer beware.
