Hanwha Q CELLS USA has announced the completion of its Dalton, Georgia, manufacturing facility. The facility is the largest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere with an annual module production capacity of 1.7 GW. The first delivery of Q.PEAK DUO L-G5 modules was recently executed after the Georgia factory commenced production on Feb. 1. A formal grand-opening ceremony will commence at a later date.
The new facility will supply solar modules to serve customers and consumers in the United States. Products from the Georgia factory will be powered by Q CELLS’ proprietary Q.ANTUM Technology. Q.ANTUM is a solar cell technology that offers various benefits, such as high module performance output and long-term reliability, thanks to anti-PID (potential induced degradation), anti-LID (light induced degradation) and anti-LeTID (light and elevated temperature induced degradation) performance.
Hanwha previously announced that its Q.PEAK DUO BLK-G6 module, a half-cell panel for residential applications, will also come out of the U.S. plant.
Hanwha Q CELLS now has manufacturing facilities in the United States, South Korea, Malaysia and China.
“This announcement signifies our dedication to the U.S. market and the fulfillment of our promise to provide high-quality solar modules assembled in America, while leaving a positive impact on the economy of Georgia,” said Hee Cheul (Charles) Kim, CEO of Hanwha Q CELLS & Advanced Materials.
