POWERHOME Solar today announced the launch of its new commercial division. Since inception, the company’s primary focus has been on residential solar panel installation in the six states it currently serves. The new commercial division will address the needs of larger, more diverse customers.
Starting in Michigan, with plans to expand into its other markets, POWERHOME Solar aims to work with companies of varying size that have expansive roof space for solar panels and a desire to use renewable energy and lower their electric bills.
POWERHOME Solar also plans to work with developer-owned office buildings, where it can help developers power the common areas of their buildings (i.e. halls, elevators, bathrooms) and outdoor lights by installing canopy solar carports. The parking lots of such buildings are often expansive and offer a great sun-drenched location to install solar.
The benefits for businesses installing solar panels are much the same as they are for homeowners, meaning they can significantly reduce their power bills and carbon footprints, own their power, and benefit from the 30% federal tax incentive on newly-installed solar systems.
“Businesses also can benefit from the 100% bonus depreciation that’s now available on solar expenditures, meaning that those businesses can deduct the entire expense of solar in the first year, making solar an even better value,” said Jayson Waller, CEO of POWERHOME Solar. “Combined with the new 21% corporate tax rate that went into effect a year ago, conditions are ideal for businesses to make the leap to renewable solar energy.”
POWERHOME Solar sees significant opportunity to help businesses in Michigan and its other markets. The company already is the largest residential solar provider in Michigan, and is an official partner of the Detroit Lions, having installed solar panels on the parking garage at Ford Field and at the team’s practice facility in Allen Park.
