Hannah Solar Government Services (HSGS), headquartered in Charleston, SC, was awarded a contract to engineer, design and build a 300-kW solar energy system on the roof of the Juliette Gordon Low Federal Building located in the historic district of Savannah, Georgia.
The Juliette Gordon Low Federal Building, famously named after American reformer and founder of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A, is one of 148 government-owned buildings managed and used by the General Services Administration (GSA) Southeast Sunbelt Region. GSA provides centralized procurement for the federal government. GSA’s acquisition solutions supply federal purchasers with cost effective, high quality products and services from commercial vendors.
Through an Energy Savings Performance Contract with an Energy Service Contractor, the GSA is able to obtain energy infrastructure upgrades, such as solar, to GSA facilities, like the Juliette Gordon Low Federal Building. Providing the GSA with reduced operating expenses and increased energy reliability.
HSGS will begin the construction of the 300-kW ballasted roof array on the Juliette Gordon Low Federal Building in the spring 2019.
“My team and I are honored to be selected as the most qualified to design and construct this solar array on the historic Juliette Gordon Low Federal Building,” Dave McNeil, president and CEO of HSGS says.” This solar array will demonstrate that it is feasible for historically preserved buildings to incorporate renewable energy without impairing their original architecture and design”.
HSGS is a veteran-owned business specializing in the design, installation and maintenance of solar PV systems, battery energy systems and microgrids. Serving the government, commercial/industrial and utility marketplaces, HSGS’s breadth of experience includes projects that span the continental United States as well as overseas.
