The SunSpec Alliance is pleased to announce that the SunSpec Common Smart Inverter Profile (CSIP) Conformance Test Procedures have reached APPROVED status and are now available for free download and use. This means that manufacturers, system integrators, and implementors can verify products for compliance to California Rule 21 phase 2 (communication) and phase 3 (control) requirements.
According to CA Rule 21, availability of these test procedures allows the California Public Utility Commission to start the nine-month clock on the CA Rule 21 Phase 2 mandate. This means that secure communication from the utility to the DER system will be required starting in early 2019.
SunSpec Alliance would like to thank its members, the Smart Inverter Working Group and, most importantly, Bob Fox, Gordon Lum and Steve Kang for their contributions to this effort.
