Sunrise Solar Solutions wins new religious-focused Solarize contract in New York

Sunrise Solar Solutions has just won its 10th Solarize contract, Solarize Our Congregation, a new solar power program bringing quality solar installations at discounted pricing to members and friends of selected religious organizations. Sunrise Solar Solutions was named the official solar installer for the Hudson River Presbytery-South, which includes 34 Presbyterian congregations in both Westchester and Rockland Counties in New York. HRP-Green, a faith-based partnership in the Hudson River Presbytery dedicated to raising awareness and action around environmental and climate change issues, will coordinate the program for the Hudson River Presbytery.

Solarize is a community outreach program that uses a discounted pricing structure, education and outreach to offer quality, affordable solar electric systems to property owners. Solarize Our Congregation is a new program developed and administered by Abundant Efficiency, a clean energy consultancy. The current Solarize Our Congregation campaign is offered in partnership with Sustainable Westchester, a Westchester-based non-profit that counts nearly all Westchester municipalities as members. Technical support is provided by New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) under Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s NY-Sun initiative, a $1 billion investment in solar power through 2023 to significantly expand solar installations. HRP-Green has conducted extensive outreach to area churches and congregations and has provided guidance on tailoring the Solarize program for its members.

Sunrise was chosen as the installer best suited to serve residential and business owners through the Solarize program’s competitive bidding process. This process required that all solar contractors be thoroughly vetted by the state and local agencies, have a stellar reputation, a commitment to the community and prove that they are dedicated to best practices.

“Sunrise is very excited to be working with HRP-Green on this unique program. It is wonderful to be able to bring value to both the churches and their congregants and to support the core value of caring for the earth,” said Sunrise Solar Solutions president and CEO Doug Hertz.

Sunrise had previously been named the designated residential and commercial installer by several past Solarize programs throughout the region including Solarize Bedford-Mount Kisco, Solarize Larchmont-Mamaroneck, Solarize Greenburgh, Solarize Peekskill, Solarize Nyack Plus (including all of Rockland County), Solarize Rye Brook, Solarize Hastings-Dobbs Ferry and Solarize Wappingers.

“We are known as a top-tier residential and commercial installation company and guarantee our clients that they will receive the highest quality materials, the best possible service and pricing, and the benefit of our experience and hands-on customer service approach,” said Hertz.

Homeowners who sign up for solar installations by June 4, 2018 will be able to take advantage of group rates significantly below market prices. Commercial and nonprofit property owners can sign up for information about the program until June 4 and have until October to sign a contract.

A number of HRP Presbyterian churches will be holding Solarize Our Congregation Info Sessions, which are open to members and friends of HRP Presbyterian congregations as well as the surrounding community. Sessions have already taken place in Pleasantville, Rye, and Montgomery. Find an updated list of upcoming info sessions at www.SolarizeOurCongregation.org (select North or South region).
