7 Cool Solar Energy Applications

7. At a recent conference, one panel discussed how solar hot water isn’t covered in the news as much as solar PV because it’s not as “sexy.” My colleagues know I hate when people use this adjective for anything other than the obvious (quite frankly, I just think it’s awkward), but the panel had a point. The truth is, solar heating and cooling is the most popular form of solar globally, we just need to give it a little more recognition and a lot more support.

Check out our other excellent story on 7 cool solar installations at U.S. airports.

The shipping container is a great idea for domestic use also. I know building contractors have their offices in these.

Keith obviously they are not chargin a phone at night. This is why the image are shown charging in the day time. Also if you home has a solar array on top with a battery back up; your house will remain powered in the event of a power failure. In a smart grid community a power out will have a limited effect on these houses because they are sharing power with one another.

Yes another good Idea but in general most solar plants shut down in a power failure!!
