Austin Children’s Shelter protects and heals children, youth and families recovering from abuse and neglect. It provides a range of services, including emergency shelter, teen parent programs with parent education and support, a transitional living program for youth ages 17-22, residential respite care, and Foster in Austin, a foster care placement agency. A group of solar companies have teamed up to provide something in return for them.
Fronius USA, SunWize Technologies, Circular Energy, and attorneys Graves Dougherty Hearon & Moody, have donated a photovoltaic (PV) system installation to the shelter. The installation is expected to provide significant energy savings to this important community services organization.
“Fronius USA is gratified to make this donation, which exemplifies our commitment to sustainable energy solutions and to supporting the important work of community-based children’s causes,” says Thomas Enzendorfer, Director of Sales and Marketing at Fronius USA. “Austin Children’s Shelter will now be able to save money on its energy bills while investing in the children for which they care. Fronius USA believes in doing the right thing, and what could be more right than helping children in need?”
“As a non-profit organization that receives state reimbursement for only one-third of what we spend caring for kids, we are always looking for ways to save,” says Kelly White, Executive Director of Austin Children’s Shelter. “We are so grateful for this unique gift, which will benefit the organization not just this year, but for many years to come.”
