This May Come As A Shock To My Conservative Friends

I was having a conversation with my colleagues here yesterday about how surprised we were that our readers don’t seem to be reading our material closely. We often get severe criticism for things we don’t say or even imply. We shrug that kind of stuff off because, hey, it comes with the territory.

But this morning, I walked into this office and heard a voicemail that I never expected to hear. Apparently, I have become a conservative Romney supporter overnight. I laughed out loud (not in the LOL way, but actually laughed out loud) when I heard it.

As you’ll hear, he doesn’t specify the article, but I believe he’s referencing this one. As you will also hear, I believe he missed this one. Or this one. Or this one.

Give it a listen — it should give those of you read me regularly a chuckle on this Friday.

(We edited out the gentleman’s name out to protect his anonymity, but that’s the only part we removed.)

Have a great weekend, everyone.

the funny thing is we need to drill baby drill, and do wind and solar and natural gas and geothermal, which is th best alternative of them all.Romney can lead us to a strong middle class not a decapipitated middleclass. Out with Obuma.

Frank – As a conservative who is closely following the solar arena as a potential market for the company I represent, I do my best to put political slants aside. Some of the articles you link to in this article clearly demonstrates your political bias. It is unfortunate that WTWH allows you to use this site as a bully pulpit, when many (maybe even some evil conservatives) are actually coming to this site looking for solar information. I for one will recommend that WTWH will not receive any of our company’s advertising dollars. If you want to share your political leanings with your viewers, how about just writing a “Frank’s View on How Wonderful President Obama Is.”

Frank, I did read this and never really thought that you intended to imply you were supporting the Republican or Democratic positions, but when I first scanned the article in question, I did wonder about it until I explored further. Next time it might be helpful to clarify more strongly that you are just reprinting the Republican or Democratic positions and are not endorsing either, just listing so readers can learn more.

Jeff: That was my initial point in THIS piece was that people just don’t read closely anymore. The last line in the italicized intro (maybe I’ll bold it next week) is this:

“In this third installment, we present you with Gov. Mitt Romney’s energy policy as culled from his own campaign website:”

I’m not sure how much more clear I can be, but I’ll try and do better next time, I guess.

    Transcript (“uhs” and “ums” redacted):

“Hi, calling about your commentary on Solar Power World about ‘Mitt’s plan.’ Mitt doesn’t have a plan other than Drill Baby Drill, and I find your editorial extremely offensive and uneducated. Do you know what Solyndra was even developing? Yeah it was a bad bet, but who would’ve known, you know, a year ago that solar would be as cheap as it is? I don’t think you know anything about solar, and if you think Mitt is a friend of solar I guess you’re just going to go on and be the editor of some other magazine when this one fails.”
