Fastener Technology says it has received many requests from customers for a low-cost solution to the growing problem of photovoltaic panel theft.
Many approaches have been tried at solar installations to deter theft, including fencing and costly alarm systems. A thief intent on stealing photovoltaic solar panels has to somehow get past the bolts securing the panels to the rack. But Fastener Technology says the PV Security Bolt solves this problem.
Unlike key drivers for other security bolts, the key driver for the PV Security Bolt is sold only to licensed PV installers. Each driver is numbered, registered and therefore traceable. Also, the PV Security Bolt’s unique clover design screw head can be operated only by a numbered, registered key driver. Serrations on the underside of the screw head grip the PV module clamp, making it difficult to slip a tool of any kind between the head and the clamp.
The PV Security Bolt is manufactured using 4140 heat-treated steel for maximum strength. After drilling out just three or four of the many PV Security Bolts used to secure a single photovoltaic panel, a drill would lose power (and ruin many drill bits).
