While at the Solar Power International Show last week in Orlando, I had a chance to catch up with Renewable Energy Corporation (REC), a manufacturer of solar modules. With over 900 employees in the U.S. the company makes up almost 1% of the nation’s solar industry.
The company show cased its concept study SmartFit Solution. Combining a frameless solar module with a mounting system, this concept offers faster installation times and lower Balance of System (BOS) costs. The result: a smart, fitted and integrated solar solution.
“Solar Power International is the most important exhibition for REC in the US”, says Luc Graré, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing Cells & Modules. “We are very glad to be a part of it and to showcase our latest product innovation – the REC SmartFit Solution concept – simplifying installations and offering more stability than conventional methods with framed solar modules.”
In addition to REC’s concept study SmartFit Solution, REC has improved cell and solar module performance. Recently, a significant drop in NOCT (nominal operating cell temperature) value for the REC Peak Energy module was announced on the California Energy Commission website: from 47.9 °C to a much-improved 45.7°C. This lower NOCT also helped to give REC a leading PTC rating with the California Energy Commission and makes it easier to see the benefits of REC solar modules and plan the best-performing solar energy system.
REC says its focus extends beyond providing quality solar products and solutions to establishing quality partnerships. Recently launched in the US, the REC Professional Program introducing installers to the company’s certification, including marketing support and warranty extension. With the REC Partner Program, REC supports distributors and large installers to achieve their business objectives through intensive training programs and advanced sales and marketing cooperation.
“REC is expanding its activities in the growing US solar market”, adds Jan-Jacob Boom-Wichers, Managing Director Americas, REC US. “The diverse segments and regions throughout the States represent a robust marketplace that we want to grow in with strong partnerships.”
