Nexus EnergyHomes will hold a Foundry Court Groundbreaking Event at the site of the first five NAHBRC Emerald Certified Net-zero capable townhomes ever to be built in Philadelphia. Governing officials from surrounding districts are expected to attend the event. Mayor Nutter says of the project, “We are excited about Foundry Court and the innovative work that Nexus Energy Homes is doing to bring sustainably designed, net-zero homes to Philadelphia.”
The event will feature a commemorative green shovel ceremony, presentations by Nexus EnergyHomes President and Founder, Paul Zanecki, and the NAHB Research Center describing Nexus’ 100% commitment as a participant in the National Green Building Certification Program. Local real estate agent at the Coldwell Banker Avenue of the Arts office in Philadelphia, Carol Diament will also present. Event participants will receive a voucher (up to $15 value) for food truck meal available on-site or a $15 VISA gift card. Nexus is also offering a $10,000 credit toward upgrade options for the first home buyer to secure a lot deposit (offer good September 18th ONLY!)
The Ford Go Further Tour has partnered with Nexus EnergyHomes for their Foundry Court Ground Breaking Event to also provide event participants and prospective homebuyers with a chance to learn about and test drive the latest electric and hybrid vehicles from Ford. They will have two vehicles available for test drive, their 100% gas-free 2012 Ford Focus Electronic Vehicle (EV) and their 2013 Ford C-MAX Hybrid. In addition to the test drive, FORD will provide digital interactive touch screens to demonstrate to attendees how driving an electric vehicle can save them money as well as reduce their carbon footprints.
Apropos of Nexus EnergyHomes efforts to extend and support their home building technologies to include other energy-efficient lifestyle options, electronic vehicle charging stations are available upgrade options for their homebuyers. Heath McCall, Ford’s public relations representative for the Go Further Tour says, “Nexus EnergyHomes is a perfect partner to promote Ford’s electric and hybrid vehicles. Their homebuyers are eco-conscious consumers seeking the ultimate green lifestyle available in urban downtown living.”
Nexus EnergyHomes building on its corporate mission to “Make America Energy Independent One Home at a Time” will also officially announce their new ‘Declaration of Independence’ campaign serving as the standard bearer for how homes should be built across the nation to promote the nation’s independence from finite fossil fuels, energy costs, and foreign fuels.
Nexus’ NAHBRC Emerald Certified Foundry Court design and construction plan supports the overarching mission of the Mayor Nutter’s Greenworks Project that aims to make Philadelphia the greenest city in the nation. Alex Dews, LEED AP and Policy and Program Manager at the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability says, “By investing in high-performance energy-efficient homes, we are building an infrastructure that creates a more sustainable grid for Philadelphia, therefore reducing our dependence on our electrical grid, and even supplementing it with excess renewable energy produced by the home’s solar panels.”
NEXUS’ Foundry Court townhomes are designed and constructed to the rigorous requirements of the ICC 700 National Green Building Standard (NGBS) and certified by the NAHB Research Center at the Emerald level-the highest certification level available in the NGBS, and will feature geothermal (ground sourced) heat pumps, photovoltaic solar panels, super insulated building shells, state of the art electronic and web-based controls and monitoring systems and Energy-Star rated appliances. The designs are modern with a nod to the traditional with 2800+ square feet of light-filled living space, garages, light towers, and roof decks.
And the homes’ geo-solar technology is just the beginning of features these luxury dwellings offer prospective homebuyers. Nexus’ townhomes will offer a myriad of green outdoor home living options, such as; rooftop gardening (including vegetables and artistic plantings), and the highest practices for water reclamation.
