Solectria Renewables Achieves SunSpec Compliance For SolrenView

Solectria Renewables announced today that its SolrenView web-based monitoring communications gateway has achieved compliance with SunSpec Alliance specifications and is now SunSpec Certified. SunSpec Alliance specifications are a set of documents that define a data communications standard for solar PV power plants and can be downloaded free of charge from the SunSpec Alliance website.

The standard is set forth by the SunSpec Alliance, whose mission is to accelerate the growth of the renewable energy industry by establishing data communications interoperability. SunSpec Certified gateways will be available for all Solectria Renewables’ commercial and utility-scale three-phase inverters beginning in the fourth quarter of 2012. Existing sites can be upgraded subsequently.

“Data communication interoperability standards are critical parts of next generation photovoltaic (PV) system capabilities and are expected by our customers,” says Tom Johnson, monitoring product manager. “By joining the SunSpec Alliance, Solectria Renewables’ inverters will be able to be monitored by a large number of third party solutions. The work of the SunSpec Alliance is crucial to the solar industry and Solectria Renewables is proud to be part of the effort moving toward standardized data monitoring.”

Third-party product compatibility remains an important part of Solectria Renewables’ inverter technology for the purpose of improving overall PV system intelligence. The ability to communicate through a third party system will assist with faster system deployment, reduction of balance of system costs and foster innovation in the data monitoring product sector.
