Jeff Spies, Business Development Manager for Quick Mount PV, will be a keynote speaker at the Viex-Americas SolarInvest Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Aug. 15. As the growth in Brazil’s solar photovoltaic market begins to accelerate, Spies will address lessons learned during the rapid growth of the U.S. solar market with a focus on the keys to solar business success and development of the domestic workforce.
Brazil recently surpassed Great Britain as the 6th largest economy in the world and it produces more electricity from renewable sources than any other industrialized nation. In early 2012, Brazil enacted new national net metering rules which jump-started the solar PV industry in South America. Industry analysts forecast that Brazil will be one of the world’s largest solar markets in a few years due to a healthy solar resource, high electricity rates, and strong government and public support for domestic renewable energy
Spies worked as the training director for a leading U.S. solar distributor during the boom years of the late 2000s and was a first-hand observer to the tools, techniques, and policies that helped countless solar businesses succeed. He was also careful to recognize and document the traps that often caused solar businesses to fail. He will provide his insights on the keys to the development of a healthy solar industry to help Brazil achieve solar success
In a post-event training session, Spies will give his “Successful Solar Business” workshop, expounding on the topics addressed in his morning keynote address, helping contractors and solar business professionals learn the fundamentals of the solar business, review business practices that have helped many contractors succeed, and identify and avoid the traps that often sink new solar businesses.
