Xnergy, a Blue Earth subsidiary, will install a 48-kW solar carport at Los Altos Food Products in City of Industry, Calif. The shade structure is designed to produce about 72,918 kWh of electrical power annually. The contract is worth about $395,000.
The photovoltaic system will use 65 295-watt Siliken solar panels, which will help reduce the facility’s carbon footprint by offsetting the equivalent of 1,600 tons of CO2 over 25 years. The solar panels will also save money for the company, which makes cheeses and other foods.
“This type of forward thinking for a family-owned and operated company not only provides significant energy and cost savings, but is also the right thing to do,” says D. Jason Davis, CEO of Xnergy. The project is expected to complete in July.
