Solarexpo (Italy), SNEC PV Power Expo (China) and Solar Power International (U.S.) today reached an agreement for the creation of the Global Solar Alliance (GSA), an non-profit initiative creating a global network of trade events and technical-scientific conferences for the worldwide development of the solar industry and markets, spreading awareness and information among the professional community, public opinion and political decision makers.
The Alliance will strive to establish an effective dialogue platform for the international solar industry and aspires to act as a catalyst for the development of new and emerging markets for solar technologies. Today’s agreement follows the first step made one year ago with the partnership between Solarexpo and SNEC.
The impact of the Global Solar Alliance is underscored by the aggregate data of the three founding members:
- 500,000 square meters of exhibition space 5,000 exhibitors 300,000 visitors
These figures prove the founders’ intent to play a leadership role and act in synergy to provide new ideas and opportunities to support the global solar market, with benefits for exhibiting companies and consumers alike.
GSA members also stress the importance of their cooperation across three continents for the promotion of solar energy as a solution for environmental issues.
The alliance has the support of the Asia Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA) and U.S. Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), which consider GSA an important step towards the rationalization of the sector for a better use of resources.
The alliance was officially presented in Verona, Italy, in the context of the 4th ITALIAN PV SUMMIT, a high-level international photovoltaic conference, where senior executives are discussing key issues on the global PV industry agenda. The Summit takes place in the two days preceding the opening of the 13th edition of Solarexpo, the international exhibition and conference on renewable energy and distributed generation technologies.
Solarexpo has established itself as one of the world’s top three solar events, while covering also other renewable energy and distributed generation technologies. Today Solarexpo covers over 100,000 square meters, with more than 1,000 exhibitors, 40% of which coming from 40 European and non-European countries, and over 70,000 qualified professional visitors. The calendar of conferences covers 60 events, with more than 6,000 participants and 300 national and international speakers. 40 industry associations are involved.
The world’s largest PV show, the sixth SNEC International Photovoltaic Power Generation Exhibition, will open on May 16, 2012 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, China. The three-day event will once again break records with 2,200 exhibitors from five continents displaying their latest products in the 200,000 square meter exhibition space. It is an opportunity that industry people cannot miss to stay up to date on the technology and market, present the results to the community and network with colleagues.
Solar Power International is the largest business-to-business solar event in North America for professionals in solar energy and related fields. Organized by the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), this event has been growing rapidly each year. More than 21,000 people are expected to attend SPI ’12 from more than 100 countries. Meet with venders from 1,200 companies showcasing the latest in technologies and advances in solar and gain expert insight in more than 50 eye-opening conference sessions and workshops.
