Speaking with Schneider Electric at SPI

Schneider Electric offers their Conext grid tie solar inverter with 2800-W output.

While at Solar Power International  in Dallas earlier this month I had a chance to stop by and chat with Schneider Electric. The company discussed its EVlink electric vehicle charging station, including both utility and residential applications, plus the new downloadable solar system design tool.

Among the Schneider Electric products at SPI was also the Conext TX range of single-phase inverters, with models ranging from 2.8 to 5 kW. The manufacturer says its Conext TX inverters use fast sweep technology with a maximum power point tracking feature that helps ensure increased energy harvest in shaded conditions. They are easily installed as a single inverter for a single photovoltaic (PV) array or in a multiple-inverter configuration for larger PV systems.

Also on display was the Schneider Electric Conext Core XC Series, a new line of central inverters designed for high efficiency and flexibility for any PV panel type and installation. The Conext Core XC series has peak efficiencies of 98.7%, and its flexibility allows the inverter to be configured with voltage and power outputs up to 680 kVA. In addition, the Conext Core XC series is designed to allow for DC inputs up to 1000 Vdc for longer string lengths.

Another highlight of the booth was the Schneider Electric PV Box, a customizable pre-wired equipment package specifically designed to meet the growing demand of a large-scale grid-tied solar farms and large commercial installations in any region of the world, even in harsh environments. The PV Box includes power conversion, electrical distribution, control, monitoring, and communication.
