Aries’ PV Plants Avoid 25,000t of CO2 Emissions

The two plants developed by Aries Ingeniería y Sistemas have produced a total of 55 GWh since they came into operation two years ago.  Both plants, located in Ciudad Real and Toledo, Spain, are producing highly efficient clean energy with a total of 15 MW of power.

Photovoltaic plants Arsol-1 and Arsol Toledo, developed by Aries Ingeniería y Sistemas, have prevented 25,000t of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere, thanks to the 55 GWh of energy produced since they started operations two years ago. The total amount of energy produced by both plants is equivalent to the average annual consumption of 40,000 homes.

Aries Ingeniería y Sistemas operates in the US under the name of Aries Power & Industrial.

The photovoltaic plant Arsol-1, located in Ciudad Real, Spain, is a comprised of 50 independent installations each with a nominal capacity of 100kW. In order to minimize the impact on the environment an underground line was constructed dedicated to connect the plant to the electrical grid.

Each of the 50 installations that make-up the plant contain in turn four tracking structures that support the photovoltaic panels, steering them towards the sun to optimize solar radiation. This type of technology is known as “solar tracking”, which in this case is performed in two axis, since the structures are oriented toward the sun both in tilt angle and solar azimuth.

Arsol Toledo, located in Toledo, Spain, integrates 100 installations of 100 kW nominal capacity with a similar structure and grid connection to Arsol-1. Both plants are integrated into the company´s ambitious strategic plan for Castilla-La Mancha which also includes the construction of two 50 MW concentrated solar power plants ASTE 1A & 1B. Aries is currently working on the construction of a third 50 MW concentrated solar power plant in Badajoz, Spain.
